Input on the functioning of the ESMA database

As legislative requirements are highly data dependent, comprehensive data and data quality is essential.
While improvements are still being made by both ESMA and all market participants involved, there are still some fundamental points that require further consideration and discussion.
The issues raised in our input will continue to impact the quality and consistency of the various ESMA databases which will result in a knock on effect on the transparency regime (in terms of the calculations), the SI thresholds and also the transaction reporting regime under MiFID II.
In this paper, we summarise the remaining key issues that FESE members are experiencing with the ESMA databases.
